María de Buenos Aires, the “little opera” by Piazzolla and Ferrer, is presented at the Cervantes theater

Sunday 13 is presented, at the sala María Guerrero of Teatro Nacional Cervantes. María de Buenos Aires, written by Astor Piazzolla and Horacio Ferrer, is presented. The little opera (as it was called by its authors), will have as main characters, singers Julia Zenko and Guillermo Fernández, and Horacio Ferrer will perform the Goblin. 19 dancers /actors, and an orchestra conducted by Néstor Marconi (in bandoneón), the musical direction by José Carli and general regie by Marcelo Lombardero. Choreography by Oscar Araiz. Stage design and multimedia by Tito Egurza. The play is presented at the Cervantes 40 years after its debut in the Sala Planeta de Buenos Aires on May 8, 1968, then protagonized by Héctor de Rosas and Amelita Baltar as singers, and Ferrer himself as the Goblin. This was the beginning of an encounter between Astor Piazzolla and Horacio Ferrer, who would later produce Chiquilín de Bachín, Juanito Laguna ayuda a su madre, Balada para un loco, among many other memorable productions that took part in Argentine repertory. María de Buenos Aires has been presented in Europe, United States and Canada. It is the story of a young woman, whose shadow strolls around Corrientes avenue, a tale about Buenos Aires in the latest 60s’. Piazzolla and Ferrer created a language with a particular style.
