Tango Sundays at Notorious
Tango singer María Estela Monti, twice nominated to the Latin Grammy Awards, presents an intimate series of concerts on the last Sunday of every month, introducing new themes and performing tangos from her latest CD Bajoflores (Epsa Music).
Doce Formas de Decir Buenos Aires (12 ways to say Buenos Aires), is the title of the show, which goes around the different manners chosen by porteños to talk about their city.
María Estela Monti will be accompanied by pretigious piano player and composer Nicolás Guerschberg and by Gustavo Fernández in guitar, as guest artist. Every month there will be a special guest, for this occasion this will be singer Lorena Astudillo.
Owner of a warm and sutile vocie, free of stereotypes and stridences, María Estela Monti has been nominated twice to the Latin Grammy Awards (2004/2006) in the category Best Tango Album, due to her CDs Ciudadana and Ciudad Secreta.
She has performed in Argentina, United States, Korea and Europe, and has obtained excellents reviews form the international and national critics.
This year, María Estela Monti will record a folk CD along with Alejandro Manzoni (piano player for Cecilia Todd); will take part at a CD by guitars’ trio Gorosito-Cataldi-De La Vega; and is also preparing a show of tango, jazz y folk, along with Guadalupe Raventos & Lorena Astudillo. Web.
