The tango band El Yotivenco will perform the first two Fridays and Saturdays of May at Centro Cultural Torcuato Tasso. El Yotivenco, with its music, describes the colorful mix of the conventillo with the urban nucleus of the past century, in which density, picaresque and dancing cohabitate. The group, formed by Rodrigo de la Serna (voice and guitar); Blas Alberti and Juan Pablo Díaz Hermelo (guitars); Fernando Seitz (double bass, guitarrón and charango), Nicolás Radicchi and Patricio “Tripa” Bonfiglio, recreates the heterogeneity of the cultural identity in those times. As the history of music that belongs to us reflects the fusion of the European immigrants with the farmers coming to the city, the repertory adapted and performed by the band comes from a sonority inspired -among others- in Roberto Grela, plus the percussion’s rhythmic base. “I remember the first time I listened to milonga and tango when I was 19 –De la Serna said once-. And something happened that had not happened to me with rock and roll. A feeling of belonging. An identity with a very deep root. An emotion that is sung, danced, played. A feeling of community”.El Yotivenco performs Fridays 2 and 9, and Saturdays 3 and 10, 10pm, at Centro Cultural Torcuato Tasso, Defensa 1575, San Telmo. Reservations: 4307 6506.
